OncoEd is an Erasmus+ project developing digital tools and resources to help cancer patients and carers find and use reliable health information.
People living with cancer are asked to take in a great deal at once: complex medical information, treatment schedules, side effects, decisions about their own care, and increasingly the digital tools that come with all of it, often at the point when they feel least able to.
OncoEd – Digital Health Literacy and Education Program for Cancer Patients Promoting Nutritional Wellness – was set up to make that load lighter.
What the project does
OncoEd is a 24-month Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership in Adult Education, running from September 2025 to August 2027. It brings together universities, a hospital, a technology company and a palliative care organisation from Türkiye, Estonia, Albania and Serbia.
The partners are developing educational resources on cancer treatment and side effects, nutrition, psychosocial wellbeing, treatment adherence and digital health literacy, in formats meant to be used rather than only read: videos, infographics, animations, a digital learning platform, and a mobile application with reminder functions and an AI-supported chatbot.
All OncoEd materials are educational. They do not replace advice from a patient’s own medical team.
Who it is for
Cancer patients come first: people undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy or targeted therapy, people receiving palliative care alongside their treatment, and people who have completed treatment and face follow-up and long-term health questions.
The project also develops resources for family members and carers, for healthcare professionals – oncologists, nurses, psychologists, dietitians – and for patient organisations and hospitals that want to strengthen their own patient education.
Where the project stands
In the months ahead, the consortium will complete the educational content, build and pilot the digital tools with patients, carers and healthcare professionals, and share the results with healthcare communities across Europe.
